Toys

In the past, children made their own toys shaping animal with wood; nowadays, wooden toys are used as ornaments

In an environment where everyone had to fend for themselves, even children learned to create their own toys.

In general, they show a fondness for toys representing pets that are familiar to them: this is how the “cornailles” were created, small cow shapes with a stumpy body and no legs, shaped with a liberal approach to proportions.

Toys were almost all zoomorphic: as well as cows and sheep, there were also hens with very long necks and no feet, that extended directly upwards from a small base, the “tatà”, mules on four wheels, cats, goats.

This kind of toy is still produced, although with a purely decorative purpose.
