Saint-Eustache et Saint-Maurice - Patron saint of Sarre and Chesallet
The traditional saint’s day festival in Sarre takes place in September in honour of St. Maurice. On this occasion, the traditional badoche hold a procession which seems to date back to Celtic origins, composed of young people from the town who go to the districts, bringing with them an air of celebration with cheerful accordion playing. They wear traditional clothes and bring a plate decorated with flowers and multi-coloured ribbons for offerings, used to organise the festival. Holy Mass is held on Sunday in the parish church, after which the traditional “enchère”, auction of objects offered, takes place. This is followed in the afternoon by the not to be missed traditional Badoche, dancing held in the church square. Each evening will be enlivened by food from one of the restaurants and the organisation of evening dances.
