Itinerant trekking of Monte Rosa

Trekking fee (5 days):

Meeting time and place: 8.00 am in Saint-Jacques in Ayas.
Difference in height: about 3700 m in 5 days (referring only to the trekking itinerary). For participants who want to climb the summit of Monte Rosa with a mountain guide, the total altitude difference is 4370 m in 5 days.
Length: about 58 km.
Duration: 5 days / 4 nights.
Overnight: 4 nights in a refuge with half board (dinner and breakfast).
First stage: Saint-Jacques - Alpe Vardaz - Pian di Verraz - Resy - Vieux Crest Refuge. Length: 14 km. Difference in height +900 m, difference in height -700 m. Walking time: 7 hours (including lunch break).
Second stage: Vieux Crest Refuge - Mascognaz - Colle Palasinaz - Arp Refuge. Length: 12 km. Difference in height +950 m, difference in height -440 m. Walking time: 7 hours (including lunch break).
Third stage: Arp Refuge - Colle Valnera - Alpenzù Refuge - Gressoney- La Trinité with bus transfer from Gressoney La Trinité to Staffal (10 min) and transfer by cable car from Staffal to Gabiet Refuge (15 min). Length: 12 km. Difference in height +710 m, difference in height -1510 m. Walking time: 6/7 hours (including lunch break).
Fourth stage: Gabiet Refuge - Mantova Refuge (3498 m a.s.l.). Difference in height +1107 m. Walking time: 5 hours (including lunch break).
Fifth stage: Mantova Refuge – Location Staffal.
Trekking route: Height difference + 100 m, height difference - 1720 m. Walking time: 5 hours (lunch break included).
Mountaineering route: Mantova Refuge – Vincent Pyramid – Staffal. Height difference +700 m, height difference - 900 m (to reach Punta Indren, where you will continue with the lifts to go down to Staffal). Marching time: 5-6 hours.
Recommended clothing and equipment: hiking boots, mountain shorts, short-sleeved T-shirt (preferably made of breathable material, microfiber type), non-short mountain socks, sun hat / bandana, sunglasses, windstopper jacket.
40-50 lt backpack. Inside the backpack: long mountain trousers (Schoeller type, soft shell), spare t-shirts (n ° 3), spare socks, spare underwear, long-sleeved t-shirt, tights to be used in case of cold and as a garment for night, waterproof windbreaker (type Gore-tex, pac-lite), rain cape, backpack cover if not incorporated in the backpack itself.
Necessary for washing (toothpaste, shower gel, etc.), towel, wool cap, gloves, water bottle / thermos + snacks (like cereal bars or chocolate). This 5-day itinerant trek takes place at the foot of Monte Rosa, an iconic mountain in the Alps and extends through the Ayas Valley and the Gressoney Valley.
For those of you who want to try your hand at a mountaineering climb on the glacier, on the last day there is the possibility of reaching the Vincent Pyramid, at 4220 m a.s.l., accompanied by Rémy (Valle d’Aosta Alpine Guide). Nature of the trekking terrain (excluding the mountaineering route to reach the summit of the Vincent Pyramid): mountain path with some sections that develop on sectors of rubble and stony ground or high altitude moraines. Good ability to move in rough terrain is required.
