This chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of the Snow, sits on the high pasturelands of Verdonaz. It was built in 1942 using stones collected locally and bound together with lime and cement transported form Oyace by mules. On the 50th anniversary of the chapel’s foundation, an iron crucifix weighing 7 quintals was placed nearby. On the crucifix is a copper figure of Christ weighing 700 kilos.
Description of the route
From Vernosse, in the municipality of Oyace, continue towards Bagnera bridge. Continue along the road until you come to route 4 - at the end of the paved road and start of the private road - which rises steeply to the alps of Verdonaz, Broiller, Tsavanne and Tza de Verdonaz (near the latter you will find the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Snow - Madonna della Neve - celebrated on 5 August).
