An unusual excursion backwards in time between Nature, History and typical local cuisine.

We will be amazed by the woods and the clear lakes to be admired, to go along and to cross. We will be amazed by the visit to the pre-Roman village of the Salassi, located on the slopes of Mount Tantané with the Matterhorn in the background. A real archaeological site of incredible historical importance. We will be amazed by the stone remains of 25 huts, built by this population named “the Salassi”. They were the Celtic population living in the Aosta Valley before the arrival of the Romans.

Detailed description of the itinerary:
The itinerary starts from La Magdeleine, crosses the Col Pilaz to reach lake Croux and the clear mountain lake Charey. Continuing the hike, after the pasture, we well take a trail leading (after an hour) to the pre-Roman Roman village of the Salassi. From here we can start the descent entering a fascinating and shady forest of spruces, larches and pine-trees.
Once in La Magdeleine we will find the worthy and tasty conclusion of our hike. A delicious meal based on the local products of the Aosta Valley will be prepared by the staff of the Hotel Miravidi.

Height difference: ascent:650 metres approx.
Number of participants: minimum 6, maximum 15 persons
Recommended equipment and materials: trekking boots, layered clothing, wind-proof jacket, sunglasses, cap, and sunscreen.
In case of bad weather: the guide can decide to change or modify the itinerary. In case of extreme bad weather the excursion will be postponed to other date.
