The atavistic dream of a flight 3,500 metres high over the Matterhorn, Gran Paradiso and Mont Blanc

Previous Next

In recent years “Icarus” fanciers that have taken "flight" (with good fortune) are on the increase. Parachuting, an activity that was in the past associated with the army, is today fairly widespread. At the same time, in an even more significant manner, paragliders are also on the increase. The reason behind such diffusion is the morphology of the Aosta Valley territory and the advent of new technology which now even offers twin equipment, as well as the chance of practicing this sport in a wheelchair.

This sport is promoted alongside hang-gliding (glider), engines planes, delta planes, helicopters and spectacular, colourful air balloons.

The airport in Aosta, the “Corrado Gex”, is situated 2 km from the city and is the base of the Valle d'Aosta Flying Club.

Antey-Saint-André, a municipality on the way to Cervinia, is a logistical base of paragliding in Aosta Valley where you can fly all year round, weather permitting.
